This is one image from a series being used by international asset management group Investec, for use in a range of print media adverts. As an advertising photographer it’s alway refreshing when I get to shoot with real staff members to produce campaigns for companies.
IIDA magazine
I was asked to photograph Jaime Velez, Director of Design at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill for the cover of IIDA magazine. Jaime was sharing his views on shaping and shifting perspectives. As a portrait photographer i decided to shoot shallow and use continuous light to create a image that was both classic and yet futuristic.
Logistically the shoot was quite difficult, utilising the top floors of The Broadgate Tower in The City of London. Here is one of my favourites, alongside some of the contacts and a behind-the-scenes image.
Sarah Wood
Here are some images I took of co-founder and CEO of ad tech company Unruly, Sarah Wood, this year named as one of the 500 most influential people in Britain. Sarah was speaking to Director magazine about creating dynamic content, retaining more women in technology and differentiating yourself in the market. All shots were taken at Motel studios in East London. As a portrait photographer you couldn’t wish for more form a subject.
Investec
Here are some more images from my on-going work for international specialist banking and asset management group, Investec. These latest pictures of their staff are being rolled out as part of their ongoing advertising campaign across a multitude of their assets.
Sarah Brown for Director magazine
To mark International Women’s Day, I was sent up to Edinburgh a few weeks back to photograph Sarah Brown. She was speaking to Director magazine about her new campaign for gender equality, women in leadership and politics. Here are a few images from the shoot. Sarah was very happy with the portraits and has subsequently used them for a number of other publications.
Director magazine
This portrait of Dame Stephanie Shirley, a former child refugee, information technology pioneer and philanthropist, was taken for Director magazine, for their cover and main feature. Dame Shirley was shot at her home using Kino Flo on the 5Dsr...I’m a big fan of her earrings.
Sir David Tweedie
I was asked to take some portrait images of Sir David Philip Tweedie, the ninetieth member of Ohio State University’s prestigious Accounting Hall of Fame.
Sir David was knighted in 1994 and has honorary degrees from seven universities in the UK.
This image was shot in the City of London at Instinctif Partners offices.
Investec
This shoot for Investec took place at The Hari Hotel in West London. We shot using Investec staff; it was important to try to capture their personality and individuality in the photos, yet still maintain cohesion. Logistically, using a public space such as a hotel comes with its own challenges, but a reccy beforehand to focus on a few specific spots helped get the shoot moving.
These portrait images will be used both above and below the line, across all of Investec’s assets.
Addison Lee - Advertising Shoot
Twelve above-the-line executions for leading private hire and courier firm Addison Lee. Part of a wider re-design and re-positioning of the brand - their first since inception in the 1970’s.
We handled all aspects of the advertising shoot in-house from model sourcing, styling and studio hire right through to post production. We are very happy with the outcome of what will form a major thrust of a £5 million marketing campaign over the next 12 months.

Steinhoff International
I was tasked with photographing Managing Director Alan Williams, of Steinhoff International, for the inaugural edition of their in-house magazine. Steinhoff are currently undergoing some restructuring, to pull together all their affiliates under one umbrella. The magazine provides a good opportunity for Alan to introduce himself to readers in this time of change. As is often the case with senior figures, we only had a short amount of time to capture Alan so the test for me as a commercial photographer was to pre-light and pre-test everything in advance.
Andrew Boff
A couple of images from a shoot featuring politician Andrew Boff. Shot at his office in London’s iconic City Hall building. We used the impressive interior staircase to add some drama to the wider shot before opening up for the tighter images. As a portrait photographer who works on location (as well as in the studio) the building only added to the scene.
Philips
Here are a few images from a recent shoot for Philips to promote their new range of vacuum cleaners. Brand ambassador Aggie MacKenzie, a face known to many, was really great to work with. We managed the full shoot, from hair and makeup right through to all studio and lighting logistics and post. As a commercial photographer it was great to mix product and lifestyle.
Gdansk - Alexander Mann
A recent trip to Gdansk on the Baltic coast in Poland for Alexander Mann at the launch of their new offices. A two day shoot with key members of staff to capture library images to use across various marketing and promotional material for the company. As a commercial photographer I am lucky to get to travel and the town of Gdansk was lovely.
Investec
A recent commission from the private banking arm of Investec. We shot some relaxed and engaging portraits of their wealth mangers for use across print collateral. On location at Thompson Hotel in Belgravia. As a commercial photographer the hotel provided a wonder location.
Sian Williams for C5
Sian Williams pictured for C5 as she moves from The BBC to to present the 5'oclock news. Shot at Channel Five's broadcast suite in-between live transmissions. We handled the post production taking the computer generated 'studio' grab and shooting Sian on green screen for the landscape comp below. As a commercial photographer I had to work fast on this shoot before the next news bulletin.
Skins
I was recently called upon to produce a small set of portrait images of SKINS CEO Jaimie Fuller. Skins are an Australian-owned company that designs and manufactures technical compression sportswear for athletes and sports enthusiasts. Here is one of the more abstract images from the final set; an outtake almost but the client loved it so it made the cut. Shot in London at White Rabbit using Canon and Profoto.
Personality and Professionalism
As a commercial photographer working in London I’m often called upon to help companies develop their visual identity. Be that shooting their amazing facilities or the amazing people that work in those facilities. We can help find the right balance between personality and professionalism. Below are a few of the website overhauls, brand repositioning and portrait session shot in recent months for global firms AJ Gallagher, Alexander Mann and Blueprint.
Night Shoot - Drivers
Here is a recent behind the scenes video of a shoot for leading London transportation company Addison Lee. The image, to be used across their corporate literature, was produced to show off their range of vehicles and drivers. We used a multi-shot stitch approach to show each car and driver off at their very best. You can view the video here: Night Shoot - Drivers
