Stand up to Cancer - Celebrity Portrait Shoot

A fun recent shoot for Stand Up To Cancer who decide to dress a number of their celebrity supporters up as trailblazers: people they felt have been pioneers in their particular field. The images received wide speed press attention. As a portrait photographer its great to work on fun shoots like this. Shooting with Sam Thompson, Joe Lycett, Greg Rutherford, Andrea McLean, Maya Jama, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Roisin Conaty, AJ Odudu and Roman Kemp. We shot at The Worx over a number of days and looked after all aspects of the production form styling to post.

Little Dish - Lifestyle Shoot

Recent shoot for Little Dish founders Hillary and Dean. I have been shooting with them for a good few years so it was great to make these images to promote their recent expansion into the North American market. We used their West London office / kitchen to produce these fun images. As a lifestyle photographer their in-house kitchen was a great relaxed setting.

Rehearsal Room

London musicians, new portrait photography series:

This week sees the launch of my new portrait photography series, capturing musicians practising outdoors across urban spaces in London. Not everyone wants to live next-door to someone who plays the double bass, the trumpet - or any large and loud instrument for that matter.

This consideration certainly forces musicians to get creative about their rehearsal space, which increasingly includes outdoor spaces. Studio rents are rising enormously for all creatives, especially in London, as old buildings get sold for office spaces and other developments. With rehearsal spaces becoming more expensive, some musicians use public spaces and parks to get in some of their rehearsal hours.

I spent the summer finding some of the musicians, who are utilising the corners of parks, tucked away basketball courts and forgotten patches of grass between tower blocks to get their essential practice hours.

The warmer summers, squeeze on creative space and increasing population density all contributes to this growing phenomenon, which has resulted in a really unique set of portraits.

Neymar - Advertising

Recent advertising photography shoot for BBH Shanghai. We were tasked with capturing images of Neymar for popular Chinese beer brand Harbin. The portrait images will be used across China in a range of forms from social to point of sale. As ever a very tight schedule (and an injured ankle) called for some lateral thinking. We shot a number of excursions from traditional sports portraits to more lifestyle photography. Beloware some of the final images, one of the final pieces of artwork, a small behind the scenes time-lapse and some behind the scenes images.

Hanoi Bikes

Some personal work here from a shoot over in Hanoi, Vietnam. Shooting the cities colourful moped riding delivery drivers and vendors. We were in the city for a little under 1 week finding and shooting the men who use their two wheeled bikes to deliver a huge array of goods from fish to children’s toys. We shot at night, a combination of wanting to capture the mixed light of the evening and also out of logistics; its hard to find any space in the day time that isn’t occupied.

BTS with Benefit

A recent studio lifestyle shoot for Benefit Cosmetics as part of their new product launch on their Hoola range. We handled all aspects of the shoot production in-house. Working with some of the UK’s biggest influencers we designed a two set shoot plan, allowing us to quickly jump from our tropical jungle setup to a simpler, cleaner plain pink background. Below are some of the final images, some behind the scene images from the shoot day as well as our original scamp for the concept. The images have been rolled out across a number of assets including in-store.

Interview

A recent inverview with Being Freelance’. Covering how I ended up getting into photography and how a few lucky breaks along the way helped. I talk about how I ended working at a lifestyle photographer, advertising photographer and commercial photographer has been a real challenge. Have a listen HERE "I think my first ever freelance gig was going to a little, tiny little pub, in Sheffield, to take some pictures of this band that I'd never heard of. I turned up and the pub was totally packed; I'd never seen anything like that in Sheffield before. And it turned out to be The Arctic Monkeys"
